Eve of Ides

Playwright: David Blixt

The night before his assassination at the hands of conspirators, Julius Caesar attended a feast at the house of Lepidus. Also in attendance were Brutus, Cassius, and Antony. During the meal, a drunken Antony asked posed the question, "What's the best way to die?" Caesar answered, "What does it matter, so long as it's quick?"

The one flaw of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar is that Caesar and Brutus never have the vital debate that motivates Brutus to say, "It must be by his death."

Inspired by history and the works of Shakespeare, Eve Of Ides reveals the unexplored relationship between the main players of the age - Caesar, Brutus, and Antony. History was never so alive.
